For real, kids:
Last night, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks kicked off the third annual Affair at the Jupiter Hotel art fair down on lower Burnside with an amazing set that included 4 or 5 brand new songs. In the open air courtyard of the hotel, with countless stars overhead, it was an incredible way to see old Malk, and to witness no small moment of Portland music history.
On drums - to almost everyone’s surprise- was Janet Weiss, of dearly departed Sleater-Kinney! Not a one-shot deal, it seems that Weiss is an official member of the Jicks now

As promised the videos page has been updated with S-K’s performance of Modern Girl from Burn To Shine and by request I’ve also added Quasi’s performance of Peace & Love. Both videos along with all other videos on the site can be played with Apple’s Quicktime.
Yes, the celebrations continue today with Carrie B’s Birthday. Here’s wishing our lady a good one.
57 HQ captures from Burn To Shine have been added to the site. Please be sure to log-in to view them. A video of the performance will be up soon, and if anyones interested in the Quasi performance please leave a comment to let me know and I’ll add that too.
On behalf of S-K.net I’d like to wish the almighty Ms Weiss a Happy Birthday and all that good jazz on her special day.
I’ve finally found some time to add a few new (old) high-quality scans from 2000-2005 for your viewing pleasure. Expect transcripts of all of these articles to be added to the Library shortly.
